What Independent, Fee-Based, and Fiduciary Mean at Apex Wealth Management Group

July 27, 2026

Why the Financial Questions Get Bigger Over Time

There is a point when people start thinking about money differently than they did years earlier. The questions get bigger. Retirement is no longer a distant idea, it becomes a real milestone with a timeline. At the same time, the noise around financial advice has only gotten louder, which makes it harder to know whose guidance to trust.

Juan Carlos Rosario, CFP®, founded Apex Wealth Management Group to answer those questions in a setting where the advice is not shaped by what a firm needs to sell that quarter.

25 Years of Financial Planning Experience

Juan Carlos entered the financial services industry 25 years ago and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner. His work over that period has covered retirement planning, portfolio management, tax-efficient strategies, and estate planning. He has led seminars for Fortune 500 companies and contributes financial insights to Forbes.com as a member of the Forbes Finance Council.

What he learned across those years is simple. Most people do not need someone with fancy terms or the latest investment product. They want someone who will sit with them, listen, understand, and help them make the best decisions for themselves and their families. That belief is the reason Apex Wealth Management Group exists.

What Independent, Fee-Based, and Fiduciary Mean for You

Apex Wealth Management Group is an independent, fee-based wealth management firm operating under a fiduciary standard. Those terms appear on many advisory websites, but what truly matters is what they mean in practice.

Independent means the firm is not owned by a large bank or brokerage firm. This independence allows the firm to focus on developing recommendations it believes are appropriate for each client’s unique financial circumstances.

Fee-based speaks to compensation. Apex Wealth Management Group aims to provide clear information about how the firm is compensated and the services a client receives. Applicable costs are reviewed with you so you can better understand the fees associated with your account before becoming a client.

Fiduciary is a legal and ethical standard that requires the firm to act in your best interest. Apex Wealth Management Group applies this standard when making recommendations and building strategies, both during and after you become a client.

How the Client Relationship Starts

Every relationship starts with a conversation—about where you are today, your goals, your family, the challenges you’re facing, and how you envision your future both in the short and long term. Before making any recommendations, the team takes time to understand your financial situation so that the guidance provided is aligned with your unique circumstances.

Most of the people who come to Apex Wealth Management Group are not looking for a stock tip. They are looking for a trusted and dependable relationship with someone who could help them make informed decisions and guide them toward their long-term goals. For some, that means reaching the point where they are work because they want to, not because they must. For others, it means having the freedom to travel, spend time with family, or pursue the things that matter most to them.  Whatever the goal, the firm's role is to help build a financial plan that supports the life you envision.

Three Levels of Advisory Service by Investable Assets

Apex Wealth Management Group works with clients through three levels of service, designed around the complexity of a household's financial situation and planning needs.

Service Level

Investable Assets

Advisory Core Services

Under $1,000,000

Advisory Comprehensive Services

$1,000,000 to $3,000,000

Advisory Advanced Services

$3,000,000 and above

Core services primarily cover goals and objectives review, risk tolerance analysis, net worth analysis, cash flow and budget review, asset allocation, portfolio management and rebalancing, performance reporting, and tax and cost-basis reporting.

Comprehensive services include all Core services along with a comprehensive financial plan, retirement needs analysis, income distribution strategies, education funding strategies, tax planning strategies, insurance planning, estate planning services, and business balance sheet review and analysis.

Advanced services include both Core and comprehensive services along with strategic planning for wealth conservation, charitable gifting and philanthropy strategies, tax-optimized investing and giving, executive compensation planning for deferred compensation, stock options, and concentrated portfolios, and business financial planning.

Wherever a household falls within that spectrum, the approach stays consistent. The aim is to help coordinate the different aspects of a financial plan rather than address them in isolation.
